Fat Tuesday

Happy Mardi Gras everyone! Hopefully one day I will be able to actually go and celebrate it in New Orleans to get the full Mardi Gras experience, definitely high on my bucket list! Instead my husband and I are getting ready to go to a Mardi Gras celebration on base that my work has been promoting, I may even try crawfish for the first time...maybe. However, I am slightly bummed that in true Fat Tuesday tradition I did not get to eat a packzi. Apparently Arizonians do not even know what one is, I never realized that it is just a Michigan thing (correct me if I am mistaken).

Now that I finally have myself a "grown-up" job, I have been working hard to step up my work swag. I mean come on, I am still wearing most of the same clothes poorly picked clothes that I bought in high school, it is about time for an upgrade. So I have started to invest in a more professional looking wardrobe, and my point of this is to show you my favorite new shirt that I bought over the weekend from Forever21:

Keys!

I should share with you that I am absolutely obsessed with keys. Key is my maiden name, and it will always be important to me, so over time I have slowly started to build a collection of keys; from necklaces, to small nick-nacks, and eventually a tattoo! My boss at work is incredible and she remembered that I love keys so she kindly bought this large wooden key decoration for me, and I am in love with it.

Any-who, on Tuesdays I would like to start sharing some of my favorite designs and art pieces that I come across on the web. As an artist I love looking to others to find motivation and new ways of thinking or designing, that is after all how creativity generates right? We take emotions and situations from everyday life and mold them into our personal muse that eventually takes a new creative form.

I love typography and any creative use of the alphabet, so for today these go on my design adore list:

  1. In regards to the paczki dilemma: TELL ME ABOUT IT. I moved to CA and then NYC and NO ONE outside of Chicago/metro Detroit knows what they are. I managed to get some in NYC last year, but only because I tracked down a tiny Polish bakery!

  2. Ohh wow! Yea they are so common in Michigan that I never even considered that other states didn't sell them. Even when I mentioned the word packzi to other people here they stared at me like I was from another planet, so disappointing!

    1. Haha I am slowly learning myself. H&M has some really nice black dress pants that I just bought as well. I am basically trying to buy a nice selection of pants in different fun colors and cute blouses that I can wear a variety of ways with them. I also love blazers!
