Whew

Whew! Again, sorry for the lack of posts these past couple of weeks. Jenny was on vacation, and I was just busy. Time is flyyyyying by! It's hard to even remember what I've been doing. Here are some highlights:

  • Went wedding dress shopping for the first time (more on that later)
  • Chose our cake flavors (also more on that later)
  • Saw This is the End (high-larious)
  • Played Cards Against Humanity (the best)
  • Ate lots of food (including a cheesy gordita crunch with a Doritos Cool Ranch taco, oh yes)
  • Took my mom to a Detroit Citiy FC game
  • Went to Mat's nephew's kindergarten graduation, he is growing up so quickly!
I'm sure there's more. It's the summer though and I love being busy! It's finally been getting nice and hot here, just how I like it.

Anyway. It's getting late. More on the aforementioned wedding stuff to come. In the mean time, here's a story Fox 2 News did on Detroit City FC. You can catch me gettin' down in the background shortly after 0:48.

Weekend recap

Food-filled weekends usually equal fun-filled weekends (and vice versa). This weekend was no exception, except I was too busy shoving food in my face to remember to take pictures.

On Friday, after work I headed with my mom and Jenny's mother-in-law to the airport to pick them up! Afterward we had dinner at Cracker Barrel and then I came home to watch the US beat Jamaica whilst in a food coma.

Saturday, Jenny and I went for a walk and out for crepes -- I went all out with peanut butter, banana, and nutella and an iced french toast latte. Then later on we went to a cousin's graduation party, and later in the evening I went out to celebrate a friend's birthday.

This morning, we woke up bright and early(ish) to go to the Detroit City FC game.

We also got some delicious mac 'n' cheese from the Mac Shack at the game. Mat got "Cheech's Trip" (chorizo, jalapenos, cilantro) and I got the City FC Chicken (chicken, habanero sauce, shredded cheese).

Now I am eating a bowl of ice cream and mentally preparing for the Game of Thrones finale. Tomorrow we are going to see the Postal Service (!!!), and then the rest of the week I will hopefully get in more sister time!

Since Jenny and I forgot to get a picture of us together this weekend, here's one from her bridal shower:

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Wonderful Weekend

It's so very hard to handle Monday after a fun three-day weekend. We jammed about as much as we could into one weekend. Here's the rundown:

Hit up Motor City Comic Con

Went downtown for the Detroit City FC game (we won!)

Took an impromptu road trip to Lansing for the best sushi.

Snuck in the best breadsticks to Star Trek: Into Darkness

Other highlights include pulled pork nachos, buying some American flag shorts, outlet shopping, and winning some jean shorts (and Green Dot Stables coupons) at the DCFC game.
Where else are you going to see a jean shorts cannon??

I also bought a couple things at Comic Con:

I love Totoro!
All in all, it was a pretty great weekend. How was yours?

Peanut Butter and Bacon Milkshake

Let's get right down to it. The second I heard that Sonic had a Peanut Butter and Bacon milkshake, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I had to try it.

I almost chickened out. I tried to find some reviews on the shake before I got it but nothing came up. So, here you go, blog world. I did this for you (haa).

I am kind of obsessed with Sonic to begin with. They have so many delicious shake flavors right now! PB & banana, PB & jelly, PB cookie, Oreo cheesecake(!). But I knew I would regret it if I backed out.

The shake was good but the combo was nothing special. All of the bacon was at the bottom, so really I had a PB shake and then some clumps of bacon, ha. Maybe if you mixed it up with a spoon and ate it that way you'd get the same experience. I liked it but I wouldn't get it again. I would get any other combination of peanut butter though, because their PB shakes are the bomb. So is their whipped cream.

Before going to Sonic, we saw Pain and Gain. I was not prepared for this movie! The Rock and Marky Mark in a film together ... what's not to like? I actually did like it, but it was not at all what I was expecting, and I had no clue that it was a true story. If you see it, prepare for some craziness and to feel pretty disturbed.

There was some pretty sick '90s style, though.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Murder by Death

On Saturday night, we went to go see one of my favorite bands, Murder by Death.

(source)
MBD is pretty much the only band for which I make it a point to buy all of their new albums. I've followed them since their first major release and have pre-ordered every album since. I proudly supported their Kickstarter this past summer and became a member of the Whiskey Crew.

I finally got that bad boy sewn on my vest. Just have a few additional patches to get on there.

Another vest shot

The show was amazing. It was the first show I've gone to like that in a long time. They are awesome, though. The show was at the Magic Stick downtown -- small venues are the best.

So was the pizza we got after their set. Thank you, Sgt. Pepperoni. We got a fresh one out of the oven, too... piping hot.

Sometimes you just need greasy pizza.

Anyway, if you haven't heard Murder by Death, I strongly suggest you check them out. I created a little sampler playlist with a couple songs from each album. If you like what you hear, definitely visit their website and purchase some albums!

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Who are you listening to these days?

Weekend recap & Movie Monday

How was your weekend? We go to the movies a lot, so whenever I see something over the weekend, I'll try to post about it on Monday.

I don't think we mentioned but in general, I will be trying to post on Mon/Wed/Fri, and Jenny will be posting on Tues/Thurs/Sat, with Sunday being a free day. We might not stick to it too strictly but that's the plan for now.

Anyway, Sunday morning we woke up and went to see the new Stallone flick, Bullet to the Head.

We love going to the movies on Sunday mornings because it's usually $5 (or less) and not crowded. We hit up the 10 a.m. show with just a handful of other people in the theatre (although I'm pretty sure that had nothing to do with it being Sunday morning).

This movie was pretty terrible. It had it's moments but with Stallone's acting, the random racism, and the fact that it was early, I almost dozed off a few times. Granted, I didn't have super high hopes, and I was still entertained, but with Sly and Arnold both releasing movies this year, I have go with Arnold.

Looking at Jason Momoa didn't hurt (source)

The rest of the weekend was uneventful. Mat is starting a new job soon so Saturday we celebrated with a ridiculous amount of Taco Bell. Those new roller things are delicious. We also watched the Total Recall reboot. It feels like it hasn't stopped snowing here so we tend to stay inside as much as possible.

I guess there was some kind of football game on last night ;) but to be honest I didn't watch any of it. We were more interested in the Man City v. Liverpool game (or Tottenham v. West Brom for that matter). Were there any good commercials?

Yesterday we also listed a few new things in our Etsy shop... check them out in the link to the right!
